Ram Madhav meets Mehbooba over J&K govt formation
Alleging that Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials had apparently accompanied Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Ram Madhav during his meeting with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti last evening here, the National Conference (NC) today wanted to know why this drama of delaying in government formation now.
“Talks were positive. I hope there will be continuation of previous arrangement”, Madhav told reporters on a query whether it can be deduced that the PDP-BJP will form the government.
This is seen as a step towards government formation by PDP-BJP government in Jammu Kashmir.
The BJP leader, who was instrumental in firming up of the Agenda of Alliance’ for the coalition past year, said it is a “comprehensive document” envisioning good governance and development of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The leaders reiterated their commitment and resolve to undertake every desirable activity under the leadership of Mehbooba and hoped that her dynamism and courage will stay as an inspiration to sustain the prominence of the party as the most viable political alternative in Jammu and Kashmir”, the release said.
The two leaders chose to “speed up” work on a few issues and put them under a “timeline”, he said but did not elaborate.
“Whatever our stand is on the Common Minimum Programme would continue till we are together in government”. Mehbooba Mufti has clarified that PDP will support the BJP only if Centre agrees on the two demands.
Sources said among the issues for which further talks will be held between BJP and PDP includes those already mentioned in the CMP like setting up of townships for Kashmiri pundits or flood relief to the those affected.
But notably, the enigmatic BJP leader Ram Madhav, declined to go in detail on when and how the government formation would take place and did not give any time frame in this regard. The state is now under governor’s rule.
There was no clarity on what transpired between the two leaders in the meeting.
