Ram Rebel X Customized for All-Terrain Challenges
A concept Mopar suspension kit drops the Challenger GT AWD Concept closer to the road (but we’re not told by how much), with production Mopar performance front and rear strut tower braces also fitted.
In developing the concept, Mopar’s engineering team borrowed the all-wheel-drive system from the related Chrysler 300.
And speaking of performance, Dodge hasn’t left the engine untouched as they’ve thrown on their Scat Pack 3 Performance kit which boost performance by 75 HP and 44 lb-ft of torque. Power is funnelled through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Finishing off the upgrades to the concept is a Mopar suspension kit, also conceptual for this project. The MOPAR center caps are visible and so is the distinctive Rebel grille with the RAM logo painted in Satin Black.
The interior takes cues from the exterior, with Header Orange stitching embellishing the rich Katzkin leather seats, center console, shifter boot and side panels. A Mopar flat-bottom steering wheel, door sill guards, and trunk mat are all off-the-shelf items.
Fiat Chrysler has unveiled a customised RAM Truck utilising its Mopar accessories range at SEMA 2015, the world’s largest automotive speciality products trade show held in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, before anyone gets too excited, let’s not forget it still is a concept that is based on the Challenger GT but has been made unique owing to the wide body kit, front splitter, rear spoiler and quad exhaust tips that went into the making of the GT AWD. These gains come from Mopar Performance CNC-ported cylinder heads, Mopar hi-flow manifolds, and hi-flow catalysts.
The RAM Rebel X, is powered by a 5.7-litre V8 HEMI engine, which has also been tuned up for additional performance. The 395 horsepower HEMI breathes easier with help from a Ram Air duct in the hood feeding air to a Mopar cold-air intake and cat-back exhaust.
