Ram temple to be made by dharmacharyas, masses: VHP
Earlier, state government reportedly sought a “confidential” report from Intelligence Department on the news that two stone-laden trucks arrived in Ayodhya. Opposition members entered the well of the house to protest the VHP’s action, shouting “stop manufacturing riots in UP”.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat had earlier in Kolkata expressed hope that a Ram temple would be constructed in his lifetime. “It’s the responsibility of the Uttar Pradesh government to maintain law and order”, she said. Lots of stones arrived today in Ayodhya and their arrival will continue.
KC Tyagi alleged that tension is being incited at Ayodhya over the Ram temple construction location which is a one and half kilometres away from where the Babri Masjid once stood.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said his BJP party was committed to follow the court’s decision. “Second, both the government and the BJP firmly believe the court’s decision should be respected and we will respect it”. There is no ban on carving of stones in Ayodhya, he said, “Please wait for court decision”.
The VHP on Monday said it had not received any indication from the government on Ram Temple construction, and was of the firm belief that the temple in Ayodhya will come up on the basis of a related legislation in Parliament. “Saints, VHP and Hindu community have always respected the judiciary and have full faith in it”, Rai said. Why do you agitate? “Statements like Sandesh Mil Gaya Hai (Have got the message) issued by the VHP leaders in Ayodhya suggests that their is a clear political move of the government at the center to rake up the issue primarily to test political waters”, he said.
“Such activities are being planned “only to charge up the atmosphere”, he said, quoting a reported statement by Mahant Nritya Gopal Das that there was a “signal” from the Modi government that the temple will be built “now”. It is unnecessary. Go back”, he told to the agitating members.
A ruckus that followed led to brief adjournment of the house. To a question whether he would like to see a Ram temple in Ayodhya, he told reporters, “All countrymen want to see a Ram temple”.
Das’ assertions raised the hackles of the main litigants in the dispute over the plot of land considered by Hindus as the birthplace of Lord Ram.
