Ramdev Launches Patanjali Atta Noodles
Nestle India had relaunched its Maggi noodles in the market last week after Bombay High Court had lifted the ban imposed on it by the FSSAI and Maharashtra FDA. The brand returned to shop shelves on November 9 after three certified labs cleared the latest samples.
Also today, Patanjali Ayurved announced its entry into India’s market for instant noodles through a ceremony choreographed with corporate-style announcements, advertisement campaigns and chefs recruited for cook-and-serve demonstrations. “We have cured many people in this country but we have not converted a single person”. “The profits we make from the sale of our noodles and other products will be used for educating the under-priviledged children”, Ramdev told a press conference here, adding that the launch was in line with the idea of introducing healthier products that are made in India. It is cheaper by Rs 10 compared to its competitors, he said.
Baba Ramdev-promoted Patanjali is next eyeing a share in the health food drink and babycare category.
“Patanjali Ayurved will launch baby care products under “Shishu Care”, cosmetics under “Saundrya” brand and health supplement under “Power Vita” by this year-end”, he said. “I would say it is far-fetched to connect the two, but let’s see how things play out”.
Now that Maggi is back, would you still try Patanjali’s Atta Noodles? “Who else can provide them?” an official said.
Without specifying investment details, he added that in the next one year, Patanjali Ayurved will set up noodles manufacturing plants in the NCR, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Days after he claimed that he had been denied a Nobel because of the colour of his skin, the yoga guru has chose to associate himself with the nation’s favourite guilty pleasure – instant noodles. The oil-free variant will sell only at ayurvedic medicine stores.
