Rams, National Football League facing criticism over this brutal blow to Case Kennum’s head
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco suffered a season-ending knee injury during the game-winning drive against the St. Louis Rams 16-13, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.
Now that Flacco is out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL and MCL, Harbaugh will look to his backup quarterback for the first time in his coaching career.
When announcing the injury, the team did not specify which knee it was that was hurt, but on an incomplete pass during the final drive, James Hurst appeared to fall into his left knee. Even if Schaub comes out in top form, the Ravens offense has been completely decimated, especially with the recent losses of receiver Steve Smith and running back Justin Forsett.
“It’s just the nature of the game, man”, said Flacco, Super Bowl MVP for the champion Ravens three seasons ago. I think offensively for the most part we were taking care of the football.
Instead of bringing the Rams (4-6) to. Driving down the field to potentially win the game with a little more than a minute left, Keenum had his head slammed to the turf by defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan.
Flacco meantime has 143 yards passing, no touchdowns, one interception.
Baltimore won despite committing two turnovers and being penalized 10 times for 137 yards.
Sunday’s game against the Rams was yet another close one for Baltimore, which has yet to play a game in 2015 in which the victor has prevailed by more than eight points.
The Texans made it 24-10 when Hopkins caught a 20-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter. Baltimore then moved about 15 yards up the field before setting up the game-winning field goal for Tucker. “The fact that I was able to hop up and head toward the sideline, I said, ‘Oh OK, let’s hang out there and see what I can do.’ I don’t know if that was the best thing, but it’s just a reaction”.
Rookie Javorius Allen took over and finished with 67 yards on 22 carries. Flacco gave it back with a poor pass that was intercepted by Trumaine Johnson and returned to the Baltimore 49.
LOSING HIS GRIP: For the longest time Sunday, running back Todd Gurley’s 1-yard touchdown in the first quarter was the game’s lone TD. “There’s a lot of throws I needed to make that I didn’t make”. And Case Keenum is holding the lead. While the Jets did snap the streak the Texans had of keeping opponents out of the end zone at 12 quarters with a third quarter touchdown, there is no doubt Houston has the hottest defense in the league right now.
