Rams not sure whether Bailey will be able to return
However, there was some optimism from Fisher, as he added that “based on what he’s done [in terms of recovery] over the last 10 days, he may surprise everybody”.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said Monday that Bailey is improving and that his girlfriend had sent a photo of him signing his name to teammates prior to their game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to ESPN’s Nick Wagoner.
It was the first time Bailey has reached out publicly after being shot twice in the head on November 24.
Stedman Bailey, who underwent six hours of surgery at a Miami-area hospital after being put in a “medical-induced coma” to get the swelling in his brain go down, shared an update about his health.
Bailey was originally placed on the league’s suspended list for four-games, for violating its substance abuse policy, but had the suspension lifted.
Stedman Bailey is on the road to recovery. Bailey will continue to stay on the Rams roster on the non-football injury list. Since being taken out of West Virginia, Bailey has 59 receptions for 843 yards and two touchdowns.
On Monday, Fisher affirmed that Bailey may never return to the field, but said his strength through recovery has shown his resolve. Bailey also has one career rushing score and returned a punt for a 90-yard touchdown a year ago.
