Rams sign quarterback Nick Foles to contract extension
The Rams signed quarterback Nick Foles to a 2-year contract extension, head coach Jeff Fisher announced Friday.
The deal is worth approximately $24 million, according to reports. The deal comes with $14 million guaranteed, Garafolo also reported. He made only eight starts last season because of an injury.
Details weren’t immediately available, but Foles will be under contract through the 2017 season with the Rams.
Foles is entering his first season with the Rams after being acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for Sam Bradford in March.
Most fans were hoping to wait to see how Foles did in the upcoming season before signing him to a long-term extension, but Fisher and Snead must like what they are seeing to take a gamble on him. “… He can make every throw….” He went on a spectacular run in 2013, throwing 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions in the “Chip Kelly offense”, despite his limited mobility. “So I’m very pleased with where he’s going right now”.
“He’s everything that you want in a quarterback – everything that you’ve always wanted”, Cook said back in June.
In 11 on 11’s, the pocket collapsed on Foles, which tends to be a theme in St. Louis, and instead of just taking the sack, Foles lofted up one of the easiest balls to intercept that I’ve ever seen. After warming the bench for Michael Vick in Philadelphia, Foles finally got his chance to prove he’s an NFL quarterback. “It’s what we need”.
