Rams WR Stedman Bailey Shot in Florida, in Critical Condition

NFL.com reported that Bailey was sitting in a auto with three family members when another vehicle pulled up alongside and opened fire.

Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey was shot Tuesday night, team officials confirmed.

Police in Miami Gardens, Fla., said Bailey’s injuries are not considered life-threatening and that he remains in critical but stable condition in an intensive care unit. According to Ian Rapoport, Bailey went through extensive surgery that required several hours of work and is now out of the surgery. As of early Wednesday morning, Bailey was listed in critical but stable condition at a Florida hospital. The driver of the vehicle was shot multiple times while children were being shielded in the backseat. “The victims drove themselves to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment”.

A spokesperson for the Miami Gardens Police Department on Wednesday said police were in the process of preparing more information on the shooting and would not give further details.

The cousin, Antwan Reeves, was also injured and had surgery soon after arriving at the hospital and was recovering on Wednesday afternoon.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said the surgery took between four and six hours.

National Football League players from across the country offered support and prayers for Bailey’s recovery.

“I was shocked just I think my initial instinct was to pray and hope he’s going to be alright”, said Rams linebacker James Laurinaitus.

Bailey served a two-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs at the start of last season. I don’t even know the situation, to be honest with you, so I can’t even say make better decisions or what.

The 25-year-old was a 3rd-round draft pick for the Rams in 2013. Back in 2007, Ishmael had a touchdown reception playing receiver in a 30-13 win while Bailey had 190 total receiving yards from New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith.
