Ramsey expects duo exit
Although Ramsey could struggle to prevent the pair’s departure, he is keen to hang onto Austin and Fer for as long as he can so they are able to feature in QPR’s flurry of fixtures at the start of this season.
The Loftus Road chief expects him to figure in Saturday’s clash with Charlton Athletic at the Valley, despite the player being heavily linked with the Magpies.
“People are very interested”. Like not being at the near post when you’ve been asked to do that, not being in the wall when we’ve worked all week on it, not pressing the ball when it comes out of the box and they score.
“Jamie (Mackie) should be fine as well, and it will be a big boost for us if they’re both fit to play a part”.
Rangers have five Championship fixtures – and a League Cup tie – before the transfer window shuts on 1 September.
QPR are playing their latest pre season friendly on Sunday afternoon against Atalanta and Charlie Austin was missing from both the starting eleven and the bench.
Dutch midfielder Fer scored six times after joining from Norwich City a year ago.
Ramsey is focussing on the football side of the club rather than seeing his best players leave.
“We need maybe three or four defenders but I imagine a few managers in the league are saying the same thing”.
