Rand Paul official says Rubio worker assaulted him at Mackinac bar
Two years ago, long before any candidate had even announced for the race, Rand Paul won a presidential straw poll at the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference.
Among Bush supporters in Michigan are a host of state lawmakers, along with Attorney General Bill Schuette and U.S. Rep. David Trott.
This year’s event will feature appearances by six of the Republican presidential candidates.
Grand Rapids consultant John Yob, who is Paul’s national political director, said early Friday he was assaulted in a Mackinac Island bar by a man he and a witness identified as working for Rubio. Anyway, he is Marco Rubio’s national campaign manager.
While Paul is expected to be on the island to speak at the conference, which runs until Sunday morning, Rubio is not.
“He literally physically assaulted me by punching me in the face”, Yob wrote on Facebook. The state cops are looking for him. I have it on video, from multiple angles.
The Mackinac Island Police Department declined to comment on the incident to the local news outlets.
On Twitter, Yob called for Rubio to fire Beeson.
Hall noted that Beeson had been trying to whip votes for Rubio for the conference’s straw poll before the alleged incident. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush will deliver the keynote address tonight, and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina gets the honors of the keynote on Saturday.
