Rand Paul Staffer Found Candidate’s ‘Closing Statement’ in Hotel Printer. Can
Rand Paul – who questioned Iran’s threat to the US multiple times during that campaign – attributes his past skepticism to the state of Iran’s military capabilities then, which he maintains were far less advanced than they are now. He said he’s not sure how the party would pay for it.
The $10,000 campaign is for social media and is aimed at tonight’s debate watchers, according to Garrett Marquis, spokesperson for Ambassador Bolton’s PAC.
The group isn’t the first to slam Paul over his past comments about Iran. Donald Trump leads all candidates at 24 percent. The target in this case isn’t a candidate whose hawkishness would instigate a nuclear war but one whose dovishness, specifically towards Iran, supposedly will. It’s a groin-punch for Rand too insofar as he came out against Obama’s Iran nuclear deal last month to the anguish of his libertarian base.
“I don’t blame anyone. I think that anybody’s numbers would rise with that amount of attention”, Paul said.
“Our job tonight is to step up, defend and maybe demolish some other bad ideas that our out there or point out that maybe there are some empty suits without ideas”, Paul noted. Paul also faces new challenges stemming from the indictment of his father’s 2012 campaign aides. “And I will insist that the final version be brought before Congress. The difference between President Obama and myself [is], he seems to think you can negotiate from a position of weakness”. “I’d rather just discuss the issues”, he said Wednesday on ABC’s “Good Morning America”.
