Rangers and Hearts agree Holt fee
The 22-year-old is a free agent after leaving Tynecastle at the end of his contract but rules concerning the development of players mean that Hearts are entitled to compensation for training Holt.
Holt also claims to have been attracted to Rangers by the style of play Warburton wants to implement at Ibrox.
“Throughout people’s careers you come and go so I am just delighted to get this done and finally be here”.
That said, they don’t expect Rangers to abandon their bid to lure Allan, a lifelong fan of the Ibrox club, to Govan, but they fully understand the part he has to play in Hibs own promotion bid and the danger of undoing all the hard work over the past year of rebuilding the relationship with supporters which was so sorely strained by the shattering blow of relegation.
“It’s a great feeling, it is a massive club and I am relieved to eventually be here – I think at the moment it is an exciting time to come here, with the new manager and Davie [Weir]”, he explained to Rangers TV. The lad Halliday looks very useful, I always felt he was a decent player.
Holt started the Ibrox side’s 1-0 friendly defeat against Burnley on Tuesday night and could make his competitive debut against Hibernian in the Petrofac Training Cup first round on Saturday at Easter Road.
“I needed a manager to have faith in me and know my strengths”. Like Danny Wilson does too. There were seven new players and I like the players he has brought in. You will have a better standard of player than you have got up here.
“They need time to bond and to get used to playing in front of 30,000-plus fans”.
But former Dundee boss Brown said: “The signs were good”.
Brown, who was a welder in his early part-time days at Hamilton, said: “Clubs have got to look to provide facilities for younger players to get a trade outside of football to fall back on”.
