Rangers employee fired after posting ‘Fire Charlie’ tweet during Longhorns
Texas, led by coach Charlie Strong, lost 50-7. But now the Rangers are apologizing.
And, as you might expect, the member of the Rangers’ social media staff who sent out the the tweet got fired, on their day off no less. This person’s mistake ultimately cost them their job, as Dallas Morning News writer Evan Grant tweeted that the individual responsible for the tweet has been relieved of their duties. Surprisingly, it wasn’t the only (or even the worst) Texas football-related social media mess-up of the afternoon.
As the Texas Longhorns were in the middle of getting absolutely demolished by No. 4 TCU, many were calling for coach Charlie Strong’s head. The Longhorns have struggled so far under Strong, and apparently an employee with the Texas Rangers has had enough. “The Rangers sincerely regret this incident and have taken the appropriate measures to make certain it does not occur in the future”. Texas has yet to comment about the Tweet.
