Rangers poised to make fourth bid for Scott Allan
Wigan Athletic are understood to have enquired about the availability of Hibernian midfielder Scott Allan, according to Sky sources.
However, Hibs have stated continuously that they will not sell their star man to their main Championship title rivals and on Tuesday they rejected a third offer from Rangers, in the region of £280,000.
“Our club is at last in good hands and moving in the right direction but to absolutely ensure we never return to dark days it is vital Rangers fans own a significant shareholding”.
Nonetheless, this has not discouraged the Glasgow club, who are set to come again with an improved bid.
“Another bid went in and has been rejected”, he said. It’s up to the powers that be.
The biggest questions will arise if and when the correct amount of money is offered but from a Hibs point of view the player could be virtually irreplaceable despite the recent acquisition of John McGinn and the continued trial of former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Rhys McCabe at the club.
English League One side Wigan, who are managed by Gary Caldwell, have also expressed an interest but have yet to make an official approach.
Warburton has overseen the arrivals of seven new players at Ibrox since his appointment in the summer, and the 52-year-old has asserted the club have the required contacts and knowledge of the game to build the squad going into his first season with the Gers.
Evans said yesterday: “Any transfer business we do will remain confidential between the clubs”. We will deal directly with Hibernian should we pursue any interest in Scott Allan.’.
Without doubt, any player in the Scottish game has his price and should Hibs receive a bid they deem acceptable, likely upwards of £750,000, then it’ll be interesting to see where the funds would be used to strengthen.
