Rangers score C Lucroy from Brewers
According to widespread reports here and elsewhere, the Brewers and Indians agreed to terms on a deal that would send Milwaukee catcher Jonathan Lucroy to Cleveland for an impressive package of prospects.
Lucroy took to Twitter to thank the Brewers faithful, tweeting: “Thank you Brewers fans for everything!”
If you have read my other articles, you would know I have done a lot of coverage over where Jonathan Lucroy will end up going.
Lucroy flied out to right to strand two runners.Keon Broxton and Chris Carter his solo homers to lead Milwaukee’s eight-hit attack as the Brewers swept the three-game set and won their fourth straight game and sixth in seven. Lucky stopped a trade to the Cleveland Indians earlier in the day.
Lucroy, 30, was held out of Saturday night’s 5-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates as Milwaukee considered trade possibilities. The Brewers tried to trade him there anyway. They got All-Star left-hander Cole Hamels last season after the pitcher voided a proposed trade that would have sent him from Philadelphia to Houston.
“We lined up well with Milwaukee, kind of like a year ago with Philadelphia”, Daniels said.
The trade for Carlos Beltran was one thing, with three prospects going to the Yankees from Single-A or short-season ball.
Lucroy is a.284 hitter batting.299 this season with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs. Instead, we will wait and see if the front office can pull off a trade that will make us excited for the teams future. Jeffress, 28, who has a 2.36 ERA and 27 saves this year while making just $519,000, is arbitration eligible after the season. He won’t unseat Sam Dyson for the closer role, but getting another late-inning guy pushes everyone else back and makes the group as a whole better. Now in Double-A, Brinson has dealt with a shoulder strain in 2016 and his numbers have dipped a bit.
Brinson was the Rangers’ first round draft pick out of Coral Springs High School in 2012, ranks 30 on Baseball America’s Midseason Top 100 prospect list and 21 overall on the MLB Pipeline Prospects list, as well as fifth in Top 10 Outfielders. He batted.237 (72-for-304) with 11 HR, 40 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 77 games at Double-A Frisco this season.
Bickford was the Giants’ first-round pick in 2015 and is now MLBPipeline’s 65th-ranked overall prospect. He is 4-6 with a 3.48 ERA in 16 games combined this season for Class-A High Desert of the California League and Double-A Frisco.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)- Jonathan Lucroy says he’s been traded to the AL West-leading Texas Rangers. He has Major League experience with the Giants, batting.240 (53-for-221) with 6 HR and 33 RBI in 87 games from 2014-15.
