Shin-Soo Choo will miss the remainder of the season with a broken bone in his arm, suffered as a result of a hit-by-pitch on August 15. He was an All-Star selection with Milwaukee in 2013-14 and was a highly sought-after player around the trade deadline last season.
The Texas Rangers signed outfielder Carlos Gomez to a minor league contract Saturday and assigned him to Triple-A Round Rock.
Gomez had a bad season with the Astros, hitting.210 with five homers, 29 RBIs and a.594 OPS in 295 at-bats.

Jettisoned outfielder Carlos Gomez has signed with the Texas Rangers.
The Marlins were already known to have interest in Gomez, and they make for an obvious fit with Giancarlo Stanton out for the season. Time is the only answer for the left field problem the Rangers have, but Gomez could possibly be the answer given he improves his play from his last days in Houston. When the rosters expand they can even get more adventurous. The club has been utilizing Jurickson Profar in left field, but may turn to Gomez as a more established option at the position. I think they’d much rather prefer to have a starting lineup of 10-11 players capable of playing every day.
Daniels says if Gomez gets called up he will play in one of the corner outfield spots.
