And now, in Italy, he was stopped at the airport with tons of cash – and had half of it taken away by customs authorities!
Worldwide rap star Snoop Dogg has been collared at an Italian airport for carrying $422,000 through customs less than a week after he was stopped in Sweden on suspicion of drug use.
The incident comes less than a week after Snoop Dogg was briefly stopped in Sweden on suspicion of drug use, and afterwards claimed that he had been a victim of racial profiling.
Financial police confirmed a report by the Italian news agency ANSA that half of the cash was impounded under Italian anti-money laundering codes. Authorities said test results would not be available for some time.
Snoop Dogg (real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.) played in Calabria on Friday night (31 July) and was believed to be on his way to the UK as he is set to perform at the Kendal Calling Festival in the Lake District on Sunday (2 August).
Anything more than $11,000 is required to be declared, and Snoop Dogg significantly exceeded that.
He has not responded to his latest detention and his current whereabouts are unconfirmed.
“They are then taken to the station for a physical examination, that is, they have to leave a urine sample”.
“If the lab test turns out to be positive, a decision will have to be made then and it will be in the hands of the prosecutor”, he said.
