Rapper Scarface Arrested After Winning Award
Just moments after being launched by Ludacris to simply accept the I Am Hip-Hop Award on the taping of the BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta, the 44-year-old rapper was arrested by authorities for failure to pay baby help.
Hip-hop’s biggest and best will take center stage Tuesday night as BET airs the 2015 BET Hip-Hop Awards at 8 p.m. ET.
According to Billboard, Scarface is still in custody as of Sunday morning, and both his reps and the Fulton County’s Sheriff’s office have yet to comment.
According to Hollywood Life, Scarface, whose real name is Brad Jordan, had been forbidden to leave his hometown of Houston, but he willingly broke his probation so he could receive the award presented to him in Atlanta.
Meanwhile, hip hop star Snoop Dogg, who hosted the event, was backstage when Scarface received his award. He has over 12 solo albums, the first one being released in 1991.
Scarface became popular in the late 1980’s, together with his group Geto Boys.
Other past winners of the I Am Hip Hop Awards include Doug E. Fresh, MC Lyte, Rakin, LL Cool J., Salt-N-Pepa, Grandmaster Flash and Ice Cube.
