Because five-star defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence of Monroe (La.) Neville announced his commitment to LSU over Ohio State during a ceremony at his high school. He previously released a top five that also included Alabama, Washington and UCLA. LSU defensive line coach Ed Orgeron helped recruit Lawrence along with Bradley Dale Pevoto and Orgeron will have a talented group of newcomers to the defensive line. Three of those four rankings jumped LSU to #1 after the Lawrence commitment.
One of the best football recruits in the state of Louisiana made a lot of LSU fans happy Friday when he announced his college commitment. Another top-tier cornerback, Archbishop Rummel (La.) High’s Kristian Fulton, said this week that LSU is his leader “as of now”. Now, the Tigers have a firm hold on the top spot in the 247Sports Composite team rankings with less than two weeks to go before National Signing Day.
