Ravens 20, Steelers 17
Aiken could have a big game today as the Steelers rank 31 in the National Football League in pass defense, allowing 279.1 yards per game in the air.
The Steelers didn’t get the ball back until there was 4 seconds left. In six games with the Texans this season, Mallett completed 78 of 147 passes for 770 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. The Ravens had gone with Matt Schaub and Jimmy Clausen over the past four games, and they’ve combined for five touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Although it’s been a disappointing season for the injury-plagued Ravens, they managed to sweep Pittsburgh (9-6) for the first time since 2011. Though Clausen did get better, throwing zero touchdowns in his first start and two in his second, the Ravens lost both games and now want to see if Mallett can do any better.
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger pleaded with officials to call a horse-collar tackle on his running back, but Smith didn’t tackle Williams’ collar. DeAngelo Williams led in rushing with 26 yards and one touchdown in 14 carries. He threw for 555 yards with two touchdowns with three interceptions in two losses. DeAngelo Williams scored his second TD of the day, a 2-yard run, to cut the lead to 20-17. Mallett connected with Chris Givens for 39 yards and Kyle Juszczyk for 34 to set up a 3-yard touchdown run by Javorius Allen, making it 20-10.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming from a 34-27 win over the Denver Broncos.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Ryan Mallett passes the ball during the first half of an NFL football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Baltimore, Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015. It marked the first time this season Baltimore got as many as 10 points on its first two possessions.
