Ravens QB Joe Flacco out for the season with knee injury
The National Football League will be looking into why St. Louis Rams quarterback Case Keenum was not tested for a possible concussion at the end of Sunday’s loss to the Ravens, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday.
“I’m happy about the win, but sad it cost us Flacco”, she said.
It was a rare but costly victory for the Ravens (3-7). They’ve lost six of their seven games by six points or less, and their biggest margin of loss was by eight points.
“Indications that I’ve been given is he would be back for the start of training camp and it wouldn’t be an issue”, coach John Harbaugh said Monday. “We haven’t had anything pictured”.
Forsett, meanwhile, broke both bones in his right forearm in the first quarter. He is Baltimore’s leading rusher. Baltimore then moved about 15 yards up the field before setting up the game-winning field goal for Tucker.
At no point did the Rams coaches or an unaffiliated spotter, who was at the game to spot cases like this, remove Keenum from the game.
The Ravens won the game, 16-13. That’s a great defense we were playing – I think one of the top-rated run defenses and pass defenses in football.
Replacement quarterback Case Keenum wasn’t able to spark an improvement at Baltimore, going 12 for 26 for 136 yards. The Rams (4-6) came into this Sunday’s game with the hopes of bringing their record back to 5-5 and having a glimmer of hope in the NFC playoff picture. The switch did not pay immediate dividends.
“We looked like our old selves in a lot of ways”, said Dallas TE Jason Witten. Starting this year, those spotters have been given the ability to buzz the officials for medical timeouts if a player appeared to need medical help. He had four catches for 109 yards with a touchdown in the Super Bowl last season….OT Eugene Monroe went down with another injury against the Rams. Kicker Justin Tucker missed two field goals from 51 yards, but converted the game-winner from 47.
“I hate the circumstances that they’re falling under”, Schaub said.
I imagine the backpedaling will begin today. Regardless of whether he was concussed or not, and it sure looked like he was, Keenum should have been taken out of the game.
And yet, Hoyer stayed in the game for 14 more plays before backup T.J. Yates finally relieved him. Driving down the field to potentially win the game with a little more than a minute left, Keenum had his head slammed to the turf by defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan. The kick capped a 76-yard drive, highlighted by a 46-yard completion to Crockett Gillmore. Those dreams of a post-season birth were all but sacked in the backfield, as the Rams dropped there third straight game to the 2-7 Baltimore Ravens. Keenum and Gurley failed to execute a handoff, resulting in a Baltimore fumble recovery. He also had two interceptions.
Veteran Garrett Reynolds is a key player going forward, moving to right tackle after one of the rookies, Andrew Donnal was sidelined with a left MCL knee sprain.
