Ravens win, but lose Joe Flacco, Justin Forsett for season
The Ravens have lost Steve Smith (Torn Achilles), Terrell Suggs, (Torn Achilles), and their first round pick Breshad Perriman for the entire season making this one of the most injury riddled seasons in recent memory.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Flacco “tore at his ACL and I think, his MCL as well”.
There was a few speculation that officials and the injury spotter did not bring attention to Keenum’s status out of concern for interfering in the game, which was at that point a thrilling 13-13 tie with 1:04 left on the clock, by causing the Rams to lose a timeout or by forcing them to remove their starting quarterback.
Forsett was stopped for a 5-yard loss on a first-and-10 from the St. Louis 41, Donald drove the running-back into the ground and had to be helped off the field.
The injury bug has officially hit the Baltimore Ravens this season.
“I’m happy about the win, but sad it cost us Flacco”, she said.
As the officials sorted out the penalty, Rams head athletic trainer Reggie Scott came on the field to talk to Keenum as backup quarterback Nick Foles warmed up on the sideline.
“Today is not about me, today is 100% about this football team”, said Osweiler, who couldn’t be more wrong of course.
In a testament to his toughness, Flacco was able to get up and continue moving about the field. “However, as we well know, those are always things that get determined based on how the rehab goes”.
On the other side of the ball Mike started by giving the defensive line a grade of A- saying “the Ravens held one of the league’s top running backs, Todd Gurley, to 66 yards rushing on 25 carries”.
Baltimore won despite committing two turnovers and being penalized 10 times for 137 yards.
Flacco completed 27 of 44 passes for 299 yards, and a touchdown. Schaub had been a starter for much of his 12-year career, but after a couple rough years in Houston and Oakland, he took the opportunity to come Baltimore and back up one of the NFL’s most durable quarterbacks.
Keenum was being evaluated for a concussion after the game and was not made available to reporters. It moved the ball half the distance to the goal and created an even easier field goal, which the Cards made to win 34-31. His replacement, rookie Javorius Allen, ran for 67 yards and caught five passes for 48 yards in place of Forsett against the Rams. He’s thrown 16 INTs and has fumbled three times in his last 368 pass attempts.
It’s a season-ending injury, so Matt Schaub will start next Monday night for the Ravens (3-7) against the Cleveland Browns (2-8).
