Re-live the Harry Potter series with Apple’s exclusive ‘enhanced editions’
Rowling is now working on a Harry Potter series of prequels entitled Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, for Warner Bros. The books will cost $9.99 each in the US and will also be available from Thursday in 31 other countries.
One thing that might irk a few readers is that the background in the enhanced Harry Potter books is locked to the color white.
“Harry Potter fans are going to love how their favorite stories come to life”, said Tim Cook, Apple’s C.E.O., in a press release.
Apple today announced the launch of special “Enhanced Editions” of all seven Harry Potter books, exclusively on iBooks.
The enhanced books feature interactive animations and intricate artwork to bring the wizarding world of “Harry Potter” to life in a new way.
A couple weeks ago, I let you know about a new illustrated version of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”.
Preorders for French, German and Spanish editions kick off today, and will be available for purchase November 9. Those J.K. Rowling annotations alone are worth the price of admission. The complete text of each book is included too, featuring a new font, new format/layout, and new covers made exclusively for Apple.
The enhanced editions really personify digital reading at its core, a unique experience that you will be unable to buy in print. This is what reading on a tablet should be all about.
As for me, I’ll sit tight and see if J.K. Rowling finally comes to her senses and releases them later in the Kindle store and especially audiobook versions on Audible.
