Read: Wales’ Faletau is a “great player”
All Blacks captain Kieran Read has called on his side to play with composure while not stifling their attacking instincts in their first test of the year against Wales at Eden Park tomorrow.
Replacements: 16 Nathan Harris, 17 Wyatt Crockett, 18 Charlie Faumuina, 19 Patrick Tuipulotu, 20 Ardie Savea, 21 TJ Perenara, 22 Beauden Barrett, 23 Seta Tamanivalu.
“Four guys Carter and McCaw and the two midfield guys had to be replaced, so that’s what we’ve done”, he said.
The All Blacks have not played together as a unit since last October when they beat Australia in the world cup final.
Bradley Davies partners Alun Wyn Jones in the second-row, with Ospreys lock Jones winning his 100th Wales cap and becoming the fifth Wales player to reach three figures, following Gethin Jenkins, Stephen Jones, Gareth Thomas and Martyn Williams.
Warburton was sent off for an illegal tackle on Vincent Clerc in 2011 at Eden Park as France ended Wales’ World Cup dream with a 9-8 semi-final defeat.
Wales have never beaten the All Blacks in New Zealand from seven previous attempts, while their last victory over them was in Cardiff 63 years ago.

“They went behind against Argentina and South Africa in the first-half at the World Cup, but didn’t panic”.
Wales assistant coach Jenkins singled out the counter-attacking skills of All Blacks full-back Ben Smith and wings Julian Savea and Waisake Naholo, saying Biggar, and Anscombe who will start off the bench, will have to be precise with their kicking game.
‘With the back three the All Blacks have got they will cause damage to most sides, so our kicking game needs to be very accurate, ‘ he said. “Do them accurately, not be afraid to play a bit of territory and put us under pressure to see if we make mistakes”, he said. We will enjoy the moment as a group but it’s about us putting in a performance we’re really proud of and I’m sure we’ll do that for the country.
Wales has talked about trying to match the All Blacks at their own game on Saturday, by playing skilful and ambitious rugby, but it is not a style that comes naturally to them. This is a really good Welsh side and it could happen this weekend if we don’t turn up and play as well as we can. They can score tries quickly as they showed in the last autumn series.
