REAL “Elf on a Shelf”
For those still not familiar with the somewhat new tradition, the Elf on the Shelf serves as Santa’s eyes and ears at children’s homes around the world.
Alan Lawrence is documenting his 4-month-old son Rockwell dressed up as Elf on The Shelf as part of a photo series for his blog, “That Dad Blog”. And in Utah, a father of six has turned his 4-month-old son into a real-life version of the elf.
In his blog he’s been keeping track of this elf that arrived from the Candy Cane forest by taking pictures each day.
The ad shows a full grown man, suited up in a full elf costume, sitting on a large mantel above a fireplace (You may want to check the weight limit of your mantel before hiring this guy). So we decided to make a fun series. And we have to say, we’re obsessed.
We can’t help but think he looks like Will Ferrell in the film “ELF”. He’s been caught wrapping the Christmas tree in toilet paper, stuffing cookies into to the VCR player, chugging syrup and distracting his older brother, Will.
If you’re concerned about the tot falling off of his perches, don’t worry. In October, Lawrence spoke with USA TODAY Network about his photo series featuring his son Wil, who has Down Syndrome. “He has the funniest expressions or reactions that always end up helping me tell the narrative to the photo”.
Hopefully if anyone tries it at home, they get a baby as photogenic as Rockwell.
“…and the idea came to me”, Lawrence remarked. “It’s nearly like he knows what we’re trying to accomplish”.
