Real lose Ramos for Bilbao tie
In team news, Real will be without Sergio Ramos due to a dislocated shoulder and will also be without Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Danilo too, as they are all injured.
There were reports that the Spaniard was keen to play against Bilbao on Wednesday, but coach Rafael Benitez has confirmed that he will have to sit out the clash as he is still undergoing the healing process.
A win against Getafe is only league win for Athletic Bilbao this season indeed, as the Basque team have to improve in order to compete for top places in La Liga. Real Madrid are undefeated in five matches, with four wins and one draw with the help of goalie Keylor Navas, who is 72 minutes away from breaking Real Madrid‘s record of clean sheets to start a season, according to ESPN.
However, Benitez is not taking anything for granted and has reminded his charges that they lost last season in the corresponding fixture and should play with extra intensity to evade the same fate this term.
‘I talk to Bale in English and he understands what is needed to be competitive.
Real Madrid travel to the Basque country to take on Athletic Bilbao at St. Mames. Madridistas will be asking for a change to the front line for this game.
Once more, Benitez was eager to express his side’s reliance upon Cristiano Ronaldo to be the matchwinner, making it clear that the Portuguese star is regarded as a class apart within the Los Blancos dressing room.
The former Manchester United winger has already scored eight goals this season and will be looking to add to that tally on Wednesday.
Athletic, meanwhile, will have been buoyed by the success Granada had against Madrid on Saturday when pressing high to deny space and time from Benitez’s men.
Despite playing away from home, Real Madrid will definitely fancy themselves going into this game at the back of a stunning start to the new campaign.
“They’ll pay special attention to Aritz Aduriz, like we will Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Isco…we’ll try to maintain Aduriz’s form”. They can score at any moment.
