Real Madrid ‘refusing to meet Man Utd’s David de Gea valuation’
Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has confirmed that goalkeeper David De Gea will miss Saturday’s Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur.
De Gea, United’s player of the season from the last two years, will be left on the bench for his side’s first game of the season, with his manager admitting there are issues with the goalkeeper.
And after being dropped for the weekend’s encounter against Tottenham, it appears that Van Gaal wants a resolution in the De Gea transfer saga. You never know what will happen.
De Gea “produced an unconvincing performance in United’s final game of the summer tour of the United States against Paris Saint Germain”, reports the Daily Telegraph.
“When I say I want more attackers with speed and creativity, Di Maria is one of those players so we have to look for those kinds of players”.
Van Gaal’s decision could pave the way for new arrival Sergio Romero, an Argentine worldwide, to make his debut for the visit of Spurs to Old Trafford.
“Schweinsteiger came (to us) at the last moment, out of his holidays”, Van Gaal said of the former Bayern Munich midfielder. We are asking money and they have to pay money.
“We have seen in training he is not the De Gea of previous year”.
Di Maria completed his long-running transfer to PSG yesterday for £44.3 million, as reported by Sky Sports, leaving the majority of United supporters furious.
Van Gaal must decide whether he is ready to throw in Romero, who did not play for United at all in pre-season. “He is the best goalkeeper we have had in the last three years”.
He had trouble with some injuries, but maybe his biggest problem was adjusting to life in Manchester and the style of play in the Premier League. The last two years he was nominated by the fans as the best player at the club.
United also enter the season without striker Robin Van Persie, who departed for the Turkish club Fenerbahce, as well as Radamel Falcao who joined Chelsea. “We have to build him to the fitness I think he needs”. “I don’t think he is fit enough”.
The skipper hasn’t set himself any goal targets this season, but he adds: “I think it’s important that I try to start the season well and, hopefully, get off to a scoring start”.
