Recall Alert: 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave
General Motors is recalling its 2016 model year, Lambda-platformed full-size crossovers – the Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia – over a potential issue with the windshield wiper motor that can result in a fire. The automaker advises owners not to use their front windshield wipers until the fix has been made. The others are being held at dealerships until they can be repaired.
GM already has notified about 6,405 customers who have taken delivery of these vehicles and urged them to contact a GM dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service appointment. Most of the models are in North America.
Owners of the affected automobiles have been requested to not use their entrance windshield wipers in any respect till their automobiles are repaired. Considering the wipers are used when it’s raining, GM didn’t say if the rain could possibly dampen the motor and put out a fire before the wipers fail.
The problem was discovered at an assembly plant near Lansing, where GM manufactures its SUVs, and was reported on September 21 by a quality manager at the plant.
The replacement of faulty parts will happen on a priority basis with customer vehicles being fixed first. GM began its investigation five days later.
