Record-Setting Snow Totals For Winter Storm Jonas
Without the customary background sound of blaring sirens and the incessant honking of enraged motorists, the snow piled up throughout the day and into the night on Saturday.
More than two dozen weather-related deaths – from vehicle crashes, shovelling snow and carbon monoxide – were reported by authorities.
Over the weekend, Storm Jonas has dumped loads of the stuff up and down the eastern coast of the USA causing widespread disruption.

This was nearly the exact opposite of winter storm Juno, which swept feebly through New York City nearly exactly one year ago.
A man died of an apparent heart attack while shoveling snow in Fort Washington, Md.
In terms of snow totals, parts of West Virginia got more than 40 inches, NYC got around 30 inches and Philadelphia finished the storm with around 22 inches of snow.
An Uber spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on other cities where the service is suspended.
Though we can’t we agree on the name of this storm – Jonas, Snowzilla or the Blizzard of 2016 – we can now “officially” call it a blizzard.
Broadway shows reopened after closing on Saturday and snow ploughs quickly cleared the main avenues. Give yourself some extra time to get to class today, but try to enjoy the winter wonderland around you before it inevitably turns into an icy mess later in the week.
