Record Store Day 2018: 25 must-haves from Prince, T-Swift & more
Sales of vinyl albums have climbed nearly 800 percent to the point where almost one of every seven physical albums sold is vinyl. “When we opened the store, we wanted to create a space where people who love records and music in general could come hang out and talk about music”.
“There are some things that we only have 40 copies of in the store”, Lisa Logutenkow, VP of Dine Alone says, “Some of them we actually only have two copies!”
But whatever they choose, they intend to sell out.
“We are indebted in some ways to record stores too…” As a steady stream of calls comes in from those looking to offload entire record collections, Conklin acknowledged that the Internet has made many sellers into “experts” seeking top dollar for rare records, rather than practicing the fine and refined art of haggling. “Publicity and business-wise; it’s big”, he said.

In the last few years, the Princeton Record Exchange has had more than 1,500 limited edition pieces for sale on Record Store Day.
“I have a guy who’s going to come stand outside at 7 a.m. for it”, Hanson said.

Now Hear This, located at 1454 4th Ave.in Huntington, will be celebrating Record Store Day from 8 a.m.to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 21. An Omaha record store owner replied that maybe it is.
Vinyl made up 14 percent of all physical album sales previous year, which, clearly, isn’t close to sales for CDs – and says nothing about listening via streaming. “That’s all it is”. One of the things about local record stores is that they employ local people and they tend to be run by people who aren’t in it to make their fortune.
“Not sure anyone remembers the first song they streamed or when they downloaded a song”. “We have hundreds of people here at the end of the day”.
“I think given the quality of the ambassadors, I’m quite embarrassed I got to be the ambassador”, he laughs.
Record Store Day is Christmas for music lovers so let’s join forces today and flip that record over again. “It’s also a good way to keep track of your favorite albums through time”. “It’s interesting to go to see that, if for no other reason”, he said.
“I think it’s important”. That stamp will also get you a dollar off anything at the nearby B-Side. “I love music and I love that I get to share that with people and connect with them”.
