Red Cross in Gaza reopens office after violent protests
The Palestinians dug hundreds of tunnels underneath the borderline area with Egypt after Israel imposed a tight blockade on the Gaza Strip after Hamas seized control of it.
Hamas, said Sunday that it has killed one of its own commanders over unnamed “moral and behavioral violations”.
PIC quoted spokeswoman for the committee, Suhair Zaqut saying that they “have chose to reopen our offices starting from Monday after informing the local authorities the reasons behind our decision”.
Following the death of seven members of the Al-Qassam Brigades (Hamas’ armed wing) – reportedly while repairing a tunnel running under the Israel-Gaza border – Israeli officials renewed their threat to launch a new war on the coastal enclave.
Al-Qiq, a 33-year-old TV reporter working for a Saudi station, was arrested in November, 2015, and started an open-ended hunger strike a few days later. The multiple cave-ins, which have killed at least 12 Hamas members, over such a short period of time has raised questions as to whether Israel was involved.
The series of cave-ins has come amid ongoing concern in Israel regarding Hamas’ underground activities, with the terrorist organization confirming that it is rebuilding its tunnels and residents of southern Israel’s communities bordering on Gaza saying that they are once again hearing digging sounds under their homes.

Israel’s military chief says its number one mission is to counter the threat posed by attack tunnels from Gaza.
Eshtewi’s family said he was not found guilty of spying, without providing further details. Israeli officials say they see no willingness on the part of Hamas’s political wing to escalate matters, but that its military leadership is less predictable.
The group is the only source of healthcare for many impoverished Palestinians, but has also claimed responsibility for suicide bombings and attacks on Israel.
