Woodland Hills: American Red Cross Pomona Blood Donation Center at 6338 Variel Ave. When demand for the most needed types begins to outpace donations, the Red Cross alerts donors to help restock the shelves. “Through their efforts, patients can receive the blood products they need”, said Mario Sedlock, Red Cross Donor Recruitment Director.
Donors with types AB, O negative, B negative and A negative blood are encouraged to donate.
“Voluntary blood donation reduces maternal mortality and helps patients suffering from blood related diseases such as sickle cell anaemia, victims of gunshot injuries and accident victims, among others, ” he said.
Individuals who donated blood earlier this summer may be eligible to donate again and help patients like an expectant mother at a Red Cross-supported hospital who is now receiving almost 100 units of blood products a week until she delivers.
The Red Cross and Sport Clips Haircuts are teaming up to offer a free haircut coupon to those who come out to donate blood or platelets in September.
