Red Dead Redemption is now backward compatible on Xbox One
Red Dead Redemption is a critically and commercially successful game from Rockstar Games, the developers of the famous Grand Theft Auto series.
According to Xboxyen, the Rockstar Games western is now able to be played on Xbox One; however, the site notes their disc isn’t working with the feature just yet, so it may just be a matter of time in their region.
Red Dead Redemption is now available for PS3 and Xbox 360. If you look up the name rockohoward on your Xbox One you will see that he is following Red Dead Redemption and has it downloaded on his system and has played it. Once there you should be able to download the game to your Xbox One, assuming that you own the digital version. With the New Xbox One Experience, players can follow specific games for direct updates.
Some are also wondering how Red Dead Redemption runs on Xbox One. If you don’t own it digitally you’ll see “Bundle Only” in the purchase options. You should be able to find the required game there and if you own it digitally, you can download it. You need to keep in mind that you will have to own the digital version of the game in order to play it on the Xbox One as retail copies won’t work for now. Microsoft should allow you to play it shortly.
Gamers can’t simply find Red Dead Redemption in the My Games & Apps page or on the Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox One just yet.
And Red Dead Redemption isn’t the only game. Last month, Microsoft announced it would launch new titles into the backwards compatibility program as they became available, not on a standard monthly schedule.
Originally spotted on Neo Gaf, these games are only available right now if you follow someone that is following the game.
