Red Lobster enjoys sales surge after mention in Beyonce song
According to spokesperson Erica Ettori, the restaurant experienced a 33% surge in sales after the song dropped compared to the same day a year ago.
When the restaurant chain’s Twitter account finally kicked into gear, its response left Beyonce fans cold. That was the first time Red Lobster has ever trended on Twitter.
In the track, Beyoncé sings: “When he f*** me good I take his ass to Red Lobster/Cause I slay”.
Beyonce performs onstage during the Pepsi Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show on February 7 in Santa Clara, California. Red Lobster did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
It’s also already a busy time for the chain, given it began its Lobsterfest promotion on February 1, days before the song’s release.
Far from the New England-themed Olive Garden equivalent implied by its suspiciously low-priced shrimp, Red Lobster is actually a very classy establishment ideal for celebrating special occasions like birthdays, engagements, and a vigorous pounding.
Still, there were more than 300,000 tweets about Red Lobster over the weekend and Google searches spiked after Beyonce’s song came out.
A Red Lobster spokeswoman told Business Insider that the seafood restaurant chain has received a “Beyonce boost”. In a tweet, #brand joked about renaming its cheddar bay biscuits, which are delicious enough to attract their own cult following, to “Bey biscuits”. “They can hold events along the tour for fans and even do promotional menus”.
Red Lobster, based in Orlando, Fla., has more than 700 locations in the US and Canada, including one in Pueblo.
