Red Sox closer Kimbrel out 3 to 6 weeks

Ziegler, 36, will provide much needed bullpen help for a Red Sox team that was unable to use righties Junichi Tazawa and Craig Kimbrel due to injury concerns Friday night.
“Honestly, this is an anomaly”, Boston manager John Farrell told masslive.com on Saturday.
Brad Miller hit a solo homer for the Rays, who have dropped 21 of 24. In 34 appearances, Kimbrel has posted a 3.55 earned run average and has nailed down 17 saves. Probably a lot different than everyone else down there.
All-Star closer Craig Kimbrel is expected to miss three to six weeks after suffering a knee injury in pregame warmups on Friday night, the Boston Red Sox announced on Saturday afternoon.
Almonte has the plus of being just 20 years old, but hasn’t been spectacular in 2016.
Uehara had been subpar this year for the Sox, accumulating a 4.96 ERA this season in the eighth inning role for Boston.
“Personally I felt like I could go out and pitch and go through the pain”, Kimbrel said. Luis Alejandro, the player heading to Arizona, is a switch-hitting middle infielder and the lesser of the two players.
Team president Dave Dombrowski has been active on the trade front this week and with the Red Sox’ rotation reeling, a trade for a starter is possible.
“We know what we’re capable of doing”, Moore said. “It’s just something that has to happen. I don’t think anybody really does”. Pedroia’s single came an inning later. “But, overall, I thought he did a nice job of kind of balancing”. It was Pedroia’s third multi-RBI game of the homestand and his second against Tampa Bay this season. Martinez is batting.283/.306/.383 with a home run and three RBIs in 32 games this season with the Indians.
Kimbrel, 28, will have surgery on Monday to fix cartilage in his left knee. Corey Dickerson then struck out on a dropped third strike, forcing Leon to throw to first to end the game and grab Uehara his fourth save of the season.
On Saturday, Boston managed a 4-1 victory to make it two in a row.
Rays: They’re still planning that CF Kevin Kiermaier (broken left hand) will return Friday. He’ll undergo surgery Monday. He has played both middle infield position and hit.311/.414/.471 in 63 games there. 1B Hanley Ramirez (left shin contusion) wasn’t in the lineup after fouling a ball off his leg for the second straight game Thursday. In 38 1/3 innings with the Diamondbacks this season, he has pitched to a 2.82 ERA with 6.3 K/9 and 3.5 BB/9, though his real bread and butter is inducing groundballs, which he has done at a 63% rate this season. Junichi Tazawa, part time set up man and part time closer, has been inconsistent for this whole season and is now dealing with “a little bit of tiredness in his arm and shoulder, according to Dave Dombrowski, who’s head of baseball operations for the Red Sox organization”.
It was the 12 loss in 16 decisions for Chris Archer, who went six innings and gave up five runs and seven hits.
