Red Sox’s Holt exits with knee injury
Pedroia missed 16 games with the injury prior to the All-Star break, but was re-activated to start the second half of the season.
After Dustin Pedroia injured his hamstring rounding first base in a game last month, Brock Holt appeared to injure his left knee rounding first base during Sunday’s game.
Pedroia had an MRI on Saturday. He said it was probably just due to his time in action.
“The play in-game obviously built back up on him to the point of the aggravation”.
“I don’t know if a rehab assignment would’ve changed anything”, Farrell said according to ESPN. With the Red Sox out of contention, they can be more cautious with him this time.
This is the first of a seven-year deal worth $100 million for Pedroia, according to Sportrac.com.
Farrell did not speculate how long Pedroia would be out. “We felt like a three-week shutdown period was going to suffice. I don’t have that time frame right now”.
The Boston Red Sox traded injury-plagued outfielder Shane Victorino and cash considerations to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for minor-league infielder Josh Rutledge, the Red Sox announced Monday.
To fill Pedroia’s spot on the 25-man roster, the Red Sox recalled right-hander Steven Wright, who got the start Saturday. “Yet, at the recommendation of the medical staff, another day was needed”. He added that a roster move will come in the next day or so to reinforce the infield. “We’ve got to find a way to get through this together”. “As he was going at it each and every day, the symptoms continued to persist”.
