Red Sox supervisor John Farrell states he has ‘very treatable’ cancer
When Farrell managed the 2014 AL All-Star team he asked Francona to be one of his coaches.
The Boston Red Sox got some heartbreaking news when manager John Farrell announced that he has been diagnosed with Stage 1 lymphoma. Boston bench coach Torey Lovullo will manage the Red Sox the rest of the season.
“It’s just one of those things you have to ride out”, Lester said. These guys did that for John. Farrell stated the cancer of the lymphatic system was discovered when he’d hernia surgery in Detroit earlier this current week.
Shaw had a two-run homer and solo shot, and Castillo’s was a two-run drive in Boston’s highest-scoring game of the year.
“It’s bad. We heard the prognosis is very good, that’s encouraging”, he said before a game in Kansas City. “Getting that news earlier in the day, you realize it’s hard and puts everything in perspective”.
The Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox play game two Saturday afternoon.
Farrell said of the treatment “there is no alternative”.

Kyle Seager, who is 2 for 3 against Miley and homered Friday, is batting. Kelly is 4-6 on the season with a 5.96 ERA. I don’t know the details of which he’ll be going through. “They were definitely locked in today”.
“It’s really not hard to analyze”, Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said. “If you look at the films, you see a lot of balls waist-high and middle of the plate. We know he’s going to get through this, and we’ll all get through it together and do anything we can to help him out”.
But, at the same time, it was just another chat between two good friends.
To make matters worse, Castillo would homer in the very next at bat, sending Boston up 3-1. Montgomery’s problem in the first started with a two-out walk to Xander Bogaerts, who scored when David Ortiz lashed a 1-2 fastball for an RBI double into the right-center gap. The Mariners have won five of their last six games when scoring more than three runs.
The Red Sox franchise’s connection to cancer – and with its Jimmy Fund – is legendary; the local WEEI Jimmy Fund Radio-thon will take place next week. It has been evident that the Boston players like playing for Farrell, despite their shaky record.
