Redfearn is new Rotherham boss
After a prolonged stint with Leeds, first as an academy coach and then as the first team manager, the 50-year-old eventually left his post after the end of last season to be replaced by Uwe Rosler.
Redfearn, 50, has been out of the game since leaving Leeds in the summer and has also been linked with the vacant post at Doncaster Rovers.
Redfearn, from Dewsbury, has agreed a three-year deal at the New York Stadium, following Steve Evans’ exit nearly a fortnight ago.
His first game will be the trip to fellow Championship strugglers Brentford on Saturday week.
“Redfearn came out on top after a meticulous selection process where he impressed Chairman Tony Stewart and the Board of Directors with his vision for the future of the club”, said a Rotherham club statement.
Rotherham United have announced that they have appointed Neil Redfearn as their new manager.
The former Barnsley player earned admiration for the job he did previous year, in two caretaker spells and a permanent one, at a club destabilised by Cellino’s disqualification from office by the Football League and for how he conducted himself when his assistant, former Millers player Steve Thompson, was removed by the Elland Road hierarchy without explanation.
So far this term, United have scored 12 and conceded 19 goals in 10 Championship games, creating 82 chances and with an average pass accuracy of 68%.
