The Cincinnati Reds have chose to give some young faces a look with the season nearing an end.
Brandon Finnegan pitched for Kansas City in the World Series past year, so the touted rookie didn’t seem fazed in the least when making his first major-league start for the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.
Ultimately, I’m convinced that Finnegan has the talent and repertoire to be a solid starter in the long run, but I’m anxious that the rush to get him to the big leagues in a relief role may have forced him too far down a different path to be able to see that come to fruition. He is slashing.242/.290/.395 with seven home runs and 33 RBI. Hamilton originally suffered a right shoulder injury in August and was placed on the DL, but returned September 8. “Especially on a day like today when he’s definitely the anchor in that lineup”, Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell said.
