Reds pay the most agent fees of any Premier League club
Liverpool, the English soccer team backed by the owners of baseball’s Boston Red Sox, paid 14.3 million pounds ($21.5 million) in agent fees in 2015, more than any other team in the Premier League, according to official figures.
Newcastle United, who are struggling in the lower reaches of the league, spent a healthy £5.9m on the services of agents over the 12-month period.
City’s agent bill dropped slightly to £12,429,380 while United’s rose sharply from £7,975,556 to £13,881,814.
The Premier League and Football League totals were calculated in the period from 1 October 2014 to 30 September 2015.
Fees are not just paid to agents when transfers happen, but also when players sign new contracts.
But right now you could argue it’s Leicester getting the most value for money out of the £4m they shelled out on agent fees with the likes of Robert Huth, N’Golo Kante and Shinji Okazaki joining the club over the summer.
The Bluebirds spent £2,828,133, with the total outlay by Championship clubs amounting to £26,124,044.
Further down the leagues, third tier Bury and fourth tier Accrington Stanley and Hartlepool did not pay a single penny to agents.
