Redskins LB Ryan Kerrigan fractures hand, but might not miss any time
Washington Redskins defensive end and former Central football star Ryan Kerrigan was unable to finish Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay after suffering a fractured right hand in the first quarter, according ESPN’s John Keim, and will see a specialist on Monday.
The outside linebacker suffered the injury in the first half, when it looked like the Buccaneers were rolling to an easy win. However, the Redskins got what appears to be good news on Monday, as Kerrigan is reportedly expected to have surgery on Monday to fix the hand and he might be available the next time the Redskins lace them up on November 8 against the New England Patriots. He would nearly certainly play with a proactive cast on the broken hand. Gruden put it as “there’s concern” as the team will monitor the sophomore corner day to day but “like all hamstring I’m not sure how long he’ll be out”.
Perry Riley has a bruised lower leg strain and Keenan Robinson has a “slightly” fractured rib and oblique strain, but Gruden thinks both will be ok. The same goes for wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who has missed the past six games with a strained hamstring.
Starting center Kory Lichtensteiger missed his second straight game with a disc-related injury in his neck. The injury has impacted Lichtensteiger’s left shoulder, diminishing his full use and strength of the limb.
