Redskins QB Cousins fulfilling ‘wish on a shooting star’
Cousins has been almost flawless during a five-game home win streak heading into Monday night’s matchup against a visiting Cowboys team that will once again be without Tony Romo. “It was great to see us bounce back from a (44-16) loss like Carolina”. Baker gave a Kirk Cousins inspired celebration after the big win. “But you’re asking me what I think, and I think we’ve got outstanding quarterbacking ahead of us for the next four or five years”.
Overall, the Cowboys have played in four of the 10 highest-rated games on Monday Night Football, including at Miami in 1984 and at home against Pittsburgh in 1982. Both teams have four wins on the road and four wins at home. “We had a chance to seal the deal and we didn’t get the job done”. Even still, I’m starting to believe that this a team headed in the right direction – and capable of capitalizing on the rare gift of being within reach of postseason success ahead of schedule. The division’s struggles have given Washington this chance.
“This is a wacky division”, cornerback Brandon Carr said.
Many likely remember the first time Breeland and Bryant matched up against one another. The Redskins have twice appeared overseas in preseason competition, once at the former Wembley Stadium in London in 1992 and once at the Osaka Dome in Osaka, Japan in 2002. But it’s too soon to get ahead of themselves. Washington beat NY to jump the Giants in the standings last week.
“We’ll see a little bit more of him”. “Now it’s just a matter of maintaining our focus and our work”. But just how many wins are needed to take down the East? The only good thing about the return of Cassel is the fact that he’s already logged a lot of snaps with this offense.
Is Kirk Cousins a top fantasy QB this week? Not long after hitting Rueben Randle on a 40-yard touchdown, Odell Beckham Jr. made this pretty okay catch to put the Giants within striking distance of taking the lead. His 91.7 quarterback rating is solid as well, but he has been sacked 17 times in 11 games.
-RUSHING OFFENSE: C. Better, but probably still not good enough. Morris leads with 482 yards, Matt Jones has 351 yards rushing and Chris Thompson 191.
Prediction: Stringing together back-to-back wins has been a problem for Washington in recent memory, but this would be a good time for it to get over that hump. But save the New Orleans game (213 yards) this was a passable effort.
The Redskins got three picks last week off of Eli Manning and they need more this week. Reed has 55 catches for 541 yards and six touchdowns.
Everything has lined up for the Giants to grab the division, and countless times this season, they have squandered opportunities. At all. NY managed just 13 attempts for 33 yards, helped in large measure by falling behind early.
However, the Redskins also rank a low 26th against the run. The longest run allowed all day was 8 yards. He returned from a hamstring injury last week but didn’t do anything of note, so it’s best to stay clear of him until he shows he’s back in the flow of things. But otherwise the Redskins’ coverage units are coming into their own.
-Punter Tress Way has had three punts downed inside the 20 in consecutive games after he accomplished that Sunday against the New York Giants. And he’s been a giant pain in the butt for the New York Giants. But that was with three starters missing on the offensive line.
