Redskins sign linebacker Junior Galette to 1-year deal
Galette’s agent, Alvin Keels, said on Twitter that Galette “is grateful for the second chance he is being afforded”.
The agreement comes less than a week after Galette was released by the Saints because of off-field problems. The NFL is now looking into reports of domestic violence against Galette and another incident in which he reportedly got into a fight on a beach. Plus, just last month a video surfaced from 2013 that appears to show Galette hitting a woman with a belt.
The Washington Redskins’ whirlwind courtship of outside linebacker Junior Galette produced some interesting sound bites after his first training camp practice in the burgundy and gold.
As a player entering his sixth NFL season, the 6-foot-2, 257-pound Galette is due a 5,000 salary on a league-minimum contract.
“She taught me about doing the right thing all the time and showing others the way”, he said.
The Redskins did fortify their interior pass rush by signing linemen Stephen Paea and Ricky Jean Francois in free agency, and they have linebacker Ryan Kerrigan on the other side.
“I like to draw my own conclusions about people”.
Introducing you to Junior Galette, the team’s new pass-rushing specialist at outside linebacker, whose track record certainly requires a question mark that he might be a bad guy and probably deserves an exclamation point.
Mike Jones of the Washington Post reported on Friday that the Redskins started checking into Galette’s background as soon as they heard he was going to be released by the Saints.
“I think you would have to be blind if you said you didn’t see it or feel it”, Williams said Wednesday.
Even with a significant personnel change on the defensive line – tackle Brodrick Bunkley was released, and Kevin Williams was signed during the offseason – Jordan, who signed a five-year deal with the Saints in June, is expected to play to a high level.
“We felt like some of his best production has come obviously when we’re in sub”, Payton said.
In adding Galette, “who’s had maybe a checkered past, so to speak, we feel like the locker room that we have is strong enough that we can help him out”, Gruden said.
“We’ve got a great group of guys”. “I got in it this morning”.
Galette has 22 sacks over the past two seasons. “We have to make decisions with our eye going forward and that’s what we’ve done”, Loomis said. Galette’s lawyer insists the man in the video isn’t his client.
4 Quarterback Garrett Grayson fumbled a snap during a drill with the running backs, but the third-round pick threw a handful of good passes during team drills.
