Reggie Bush travelling to visit Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are close to signing Free Agent RB Reggie Bush, who is expected to visit their training camp in Rochester NY, today to take a physical.
The person says the Bills will sign Bush pending the player passing a physical, which he is scheduled to take on Monday.
Bush, the Saints’ second-overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, spent last season with the 49ers where he played in just five games after suffering a freak knee injury against the Rams. This report from Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News hints at Bush being considered for the team’s primary return-man position. And two years after that, it was San Francisco, and now, 16 months later, he’s in Buffalo. When adding in his production as a receiver, Bush has surpassed 1,000 yards from scrimmage five times in a career that began with New Orleans and included a two-year stint in Miami. Neither of those jobs are settled for the Bills, and with experience doing both, Bush could become the odds on favorite to win those jobs if the team would like to subject him to it.
A person with direct knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press the agreement was reached Monday afternoon. The Bills had a need for a running back after Karlos Williams reported to minicamp overweight and was later suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Bush has been used mostly as a punt returner. Bush has averaged 4.3 yards per carry in his career and also has 470 career receptions, though his best season as a receiver came as a rookie, when he hauled in 88 passes for 742 yards. Please see our terms of service for more information.
