Reggie Wayne reportedly taking a physical with Patriots
Aaron Dobson, Julian Edelman, Brian Tyms and Brandon LaFell now are dealing with various ailments.
While these New England Patriots rumors definitely indicate that the team is about to sign Reggie Wayne, it’s important to point out that the only official statement is that he is in town for a physical.
Wayne, 36, had surgery to fix a torn triceps in February, an injury he played through last season but severely limited his production. Wayne said last month that he wanted to return for one more season in the NFL, although he acknowledged he was unsure where he would play. The six-time Pro Bowler ranks seventh on the NFL’s career receptions list (1,070), eighth in receiving yards (14,345), 22nd in receiving touchdowns (82) and is considered one of the greatest receivers in Indianapolis history. He caught 64 passes for 779 yards with two touchdowns in 15 games.
The only healthy receivers right now are veteran Danny Amendola, undrafted rookie Chris Harper, and roster longshots Jonathan Krause and Zach D’Orazio. “Obviously the bigger the situation, the more you would depend on him to be able to make the play”. Winning one with Tom Brady after doing it with Peyton Manning (on the Colts) would sure round out his career in the league. This could lead to Wayne signing with the Patriots.
