Relentless Sebastian Coe wins top job in track and field
The worldwide Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has accepted the national federations of Kosovo and South Sudan as its full-fledged members.
Leading up to Saturday’s start of the world championships of athletics, the IAAF held their council meeting, the top priority this year being to select Coe or Sergey Bubka as the organization’s new president.
In what would appear to be a massive PR own-goal, it’s emerged that the IAAF is to abandon its policy of drug-testing every athlete during the upcoming world championships in Beijing.
“The last World Record Award to be presented was to the Jamaican 4x100m quartet at the 2011 World Championships, who shared Dollars 100,000 after running a 37.04 and trimming 0.06 from the time the Jamaican quartet set when striking gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics”, it further said. I have always done it together with you my friends. The sport, of course, will shame itself in any case if nothing is done, but navigating athletics through this perilous period and on to a better future is a job so precarious as to be close to impossible.
“There is a zero tolerance to the abuse of doping in my sport”.
Coe declined to go into the details of how his anti-doping body would work, saying it was something he had to discuss with his IAAF colleagues over the coming weeks. “Bubka was reelected vice president”, said Juico.
Coe, whose other posts include chairman of the British Olympic Association, executive chairman of CSM Sport and Entertainment – a sports marketing outfit – and global advisor to Nike, said it was too soon to say whether he would have to scale back any of those roles.
“As your president, I will represent athletics in the Olympic movement”.
“Lord Coe’s strong anti-doping stance and continued efforts to ensure a clean and level playing field for all athletes are wholeheartedly supported by Australian athletics”. “That means we have the highest leadership of IAAF as our allies”. “I will continue to serve athletics with dignity and big passion as I did before”. “This is my life”.
