The toddler’s remains were located by investigators in a wooded area near Philips Hwy and 9B in Duval County, Florida with the cooperation of Ebron following discussions with Ebron’s attorney.
Even at her age, Kassie said she knows how crucial it is to find the toddler’s body.
“One of the neighbors that lived on that dirt road informed us that a body was found and the medical examiner was coming in”, resident Robert Richardson said.
“That little boy didn’t need to be discarded like a piece of trash”, Hackney said. Lonzie’s mother, Lonna Barton, was at work as a dancer at Wacko’s at the time.
Lauramore Barton’s boyfriend, Ebron, is charged with child neglect, tampering with evidence and lying to police in connection with Lonzie’s disappearance. The judge has not yet decided whether she can do so, however.
Ebron waived his right to a speedy trial Monday morning.
The next scheduled hearing in the case will continue as planned on Tuesday.
“We feel strongly that it’s him”, Williams said.
State Attorney Angela Corey says it’s possible more charges will be brought against Ebron.
According to court records, Ebron called police on July 24, saying the boy had been strapped inside a auto seat when he stepped back into his apartment to get something. While he was inside, Ebron said someone stole the auto with the child inside.
