Renée Zellweger reveals her reaction to Bridget Jones’s unplanned pregnancy
Jones is now fortysomething, single again and unexpectedly expecting.
Renee Zellweger has revealed that the script for Bridget Jones’s Baby had no ending, in a bid to stop the plot from leaking to eager fans.
Laurie said: “Working on set gave me an insight into how a slick, professional movie crew operates and how they manage to accomplish a lot in relatively little time”.

“I didn’t feel myself judging her about it”, says Zellweger of Bridget’s unplanned new addition. When they find out she’s expecting, the two fight for their lady. Could it be granite-jawed Jack (Patrick Dempsey, a good sport but struggling to fill the caddish shoes of a departed Hugh Grant), the algorithm-mad relationship guru who gallantly plucked her out of a sea of mud at a rock festival and one thing led to another?
Patrick Dempsey: “I really enjoyed the interaction with Bridget in the studio and the dialogue that was happening with the announcer on stage”. Not a bad thing, since it makes room in a putative romantic comedy for some of the funniest newsroom send-up scenes I’ve seen since Broadcast News.
But, what’s amusing to one person, may not be amusing to others. Just ask Mr. Darcy or Colin Firth. Zellweger slips right back into character, and the movie is at its best when utilizing Colin Firth, the franchise’s secret weapon. I mean there’s one of the old adage about comedy being a serious business because once you start to deconstruct things, you know, it’s not tickling your amusing bone anymore. You’re not there in front of an audience all the time getting your laughs for reassurance.
So you could say that Bridget keeps living, then unpicking, the Pride and Prejudice dream as her bond with the elusive Darcy ebbs and flows along with her own desire to live on her own terms.
Something tells us this comedy won’t disappoint.
