Rene Angelil: Celine Dion’s Husband Dead from Throat Cancer at 73
Rene Angelil, husband and former manager to music superstar, Celine Dion, has passed away.
Celine earlier today announced the death of her husband Rene Angelil after a long fight with cancer.
Angelil battled throat cancer since the late 90s, with several ups and downs along the way. He discovered the Titanic singer in 1980 after her brother sent a demo tape to the famous record producer.
“He wants me back”, she added.
Dion released a statement on her website announcing the cancellation. The “My Heart Will Go On” singer revealed that she was pregnant with triplets but miscarried one of the babies.
U.S. Senator Harry Reid on Nevada said the couple took a “risk on Las Vegas” in 2002 by committing to an extended show contract, a move he said was unprecedented for a star of her caliber at the time. When you have family around I think it helps tremendously. She’s set to return on February 23rd. Sadly, the disease would come back and this time, it would be fatal. Celine had to be strong, despite her fear of losing him. “The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment; more details will be provided at a later time”.
Although Angelil stepped down from managing his wife in 2014, he remained her greatest supporter, and his last wish was for her to be with him when he died.
Here’s hoping Dion and her three sons, Nelson, Eddy and René-Charles, are able to find some peace. Angelil also has three adult children from previous marriages.
