Rep. John Lewis ‘Would Not Invite’ Donald Trump to Visit Selma
He said he doesn’t see Trump as a “legitimate” president due to Russia’s alleged interference in the election.
A growing number of House Democrats, including some Bay Area lawmakers, have announced that they are boycotting Friday’s inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
In a series of early morning tweets Saturday, Trump responded, saying Lewis should pay more attention to his congressional district and stop “falsely complaining about the election”.
‘All talk, talk, talk – no action or results.
During the campaign, he said Democrats had failed African-Americans and Hispanics. “What the hell do you have to lose?”.
“I hope they give me their tickets”. The third installment of the trilogy won the National Book Award a year ago.

Massachusetts Rep Katherine Clark told the Boston Globe on 5 January: “I support the peaceful transition of power, but I don’t feel that I need to attend the pageantry associated with and for this President”.
John Lewis, who has represented Georgia on Congress since 1987, said that Russian hacking had “helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton”.
Obama said he would not get into details about his conversations with Trump, describing them as “cordial, at times lengthy and substantive”.
Lawmakers came to Lewis’ defense following Trump’s criticisms.
He joins at least 41 other Democrats also skipping out, according to tracking by the Washington Post. At spots three and four were Walking with the Wind: A Memoir of the Movement by Lewis and Michael D’Orso, which was also out of stock Sunday, and book one of the March trilogy.
Michael Steele, who served as the first black chairman of the Republican National Committee until 2011, said the tweets were unfortunate. “I respect it. But I will not celebrate it”, he said in his statement. Day Memorial Breakfast at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, where she was among other MA politicians in slamming Trump’s recent shots at John Lewis.
